Year's End, Already
You can, if you want to, check out some of my best-of-the-year picks. Unlike most of the other people who responded, I didn't give any shout-outs to fiction, simply because I haven't read enough. I'm trying to remedy that now. Any suggestions?

"Saturn's Children" by Charles Stross
Um, yeah, sorry, I should give some sort of rationale. It's a story about robots, and is quite unlike any I recall reading. Clanky girlbots get intimate with orbital delivery systems, and robot society gets extreme in short order after the demise of humanity. Great fun.
