I second Dr Roberts! I saw Endgame in NYC around 1964. I decided at once that you could view it as an after-the-bomb play. The performance was wonderful. I have been meaning to buy it since then. Hm.....Perhaps it's available as a DVD.

I was given a prepublication version of The Plot Against America and read it quickly. I did not like it. It struck me as a potboiler with some historical insights. Not much of a warning either.
I am no Roth fan. To me his stuff lacks emotional impact (high and low points, for example). It just doesn't register, as does the best of Bellow, "Humboldt's Gift," and "Herzog." Those are great, Roth seems droll by comparison.
