Just noticed that Subterranean Press have posted the first part of my novella 'Crimes and Glory' in their online magazine. Meanwhile, over at The New Yorker, there's J.G. Ballard's absolutely positively last story (as opposed to the last-ever-Ballard story published earlier in the Guardian (and earlier still in Interzone). The New Yorker published a science-fiction story by Gail Hareven last week. Build on this trend: send them your best stories!

The New Yorker story by Ballard was previously published in Ambit, years ago.

Depends on how you define "last" I guess :-)
It does seem pretty old - he refers to transistor radios and London Airport, which would put it in the early 60s at latest, as it was renamed Heathrow in 1966.

I stupidly thought it was a trunk story.
As for 'Crimes and Glory', the schedule for posting is a mystery to me. There's plenty of other good fiction there to divert you while you wait...

I hope there are trunk stories, but we haven't seen them yet. Subterranean Press is quite good, and I have the Ken MacLeod lined up to read. I don't like the serial presentation, though, as I always end up forgetting about it before I've finished. Eg that Tom Disch ancient Greek story they had a while ago.
