They are using Mickey Mouse for their propaganda - but probably it id symbol of their cultural capitulaion to Western culture? - creation of Hollywood still much more authoritative for the childen than Bin Laden.
I agree that Mickey Mouse is a powerful Hollywood creation and icon of Western culture (didn't East Germany back in the bad old days ban the Mouse for that very reason?). But that's why use in this context is a perfect example of detournement: the appropriation of cultural or aesthetic artifacts and redeployment in a new context. Which is of course one of the most powerful and vital components of science fiction's toolkit.
